Canon Pixma iP1800 - Photo quality is typical for any current-model ink jet, producing the IP1800's prints as good as photos from the local drugstore or photo shop. That is a little in need of what you will get coming from the best photo printers or perhaps a professional photo lab, but it is also true photo quality by definition. I saw a slight blue shift in certain photos, and hints of color in certain shades of gray on the monochrome photo, but no serious issues. Unless have the ear of a critical eye, you most likely won't notice any problems.
The photos will also be reasonably water resistant. In case you let drops of water dry, they will leave water stains, however you can hand the photos around for others to look into without worrying about them returning smudged. I held one under running water and rubbed it without noticeable effect.
